I'm safe
A new mantra, a new perspective to survive the terror of our national government, and to continue taking action and loving harder.
“I’m safe.” This is my new mantra.
It’s a new perspective to survive the terror of our national government, and to continue taking action and loving harder. This mantra is useful for all situations in my life right now, I realized! “I’m safe” can help me:
Fight facism
Explore meeting new people
Improve existing relationships
Navigate uncertainties at work
Sharing in case it’s useful for you to practice this as a new belief, too.
A revolutionary idea (like love)
“I’m safe” is a bold statement for anyone who’s overcome anything in their lives. I understand that many people are NOT safe. Many of us never experienced complete safety for long lengths of time as children, much less adults. It’s hard to “pull up” a feeling of safety when we’re fighting for our survival.
But/and, everything I’ve learned over the last 10+ years about going from survival mode into joy again is related to introducing new ingredients to change my mind.
Mindsets are malleable
Mindsets are malleable. As we’ve seen with the rise of white nationalism in the U.S.
But ALWAYS more powerful than a group of rich men with rigid viewpoints is our collective ability to generate, for free, and from our own natural chemicals, whatever we want in our minds!
Think of it. When we allow ourselves to feel safe–regardless of what’s happened to and around us–we can generate infinite amounts of:
Self-love
Generosity
Creativity
Laughter
Music
Movement
Ecstasy!
Next-level problem-solving!
Incredible changes!
With this shift in perspective–since I decided I’m safe–I think I can continue to do hard things. I can stand up with my neighbors and friends. I can keep loving and listening. I can keep creating and sharing generously.
You’re safe too
You too, right, friends? We do hard things. We protect and love and inspire one another. We make soup and share it. We show up anyway.
You’re safe.
You’re safe.
You’re safe.
I love you.
You’re safe.
You’re safe.
You’re safe.
Sending 🖤,
Margot
